Gilani claims Pakistan People's Party stopping him from stepping down

Islamabad, Thu, 16 Feb 2012 ANI

Islamabad, Feb 16(ANI): Pakistan Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani has said that the Pakistan People's Party (PPP) is stopping him from stepping down as premier.

Gilani said the 'next steps', including the decision of resigning from premiership, would be taken within the framework of the constitution and in accordance with the law.

He said the decision of not writing a letter to Swiss authorities for reopening alleged money- laundering cases against President Asif Ali Zardari, was also taken by the party.

Gilani, however, refrained from commenting on the retirement of ISI chief Lieutenant General Shuja Pasha and refused to comment on the next intelligence chief, The Dawn reports.

Meanwhile, Attorney General of Pakistan Maulvi Anwar-ul-Haq will submit his reply in the Pakistan Supreme Court today over the contempt of court hearing against Gilani.(ANI)
