Tripura hosts agricultural fair to boost farm productivity

Agartala, Feb 15 (ANI): Tripura capital Agartala recently played host to an agricultural fair was recently held here to showcase the latest in agri research and new technologies for cultivation to increase farm productivity.

 

Experts displayed contemporary farm models and explained new methods of cultivation that are not just eco friendly but also cost effective.

 

New machines like small tractors and drillers were exhibited during the three-day long fair.

 

"Farmers ask a question and scientists clear their doubts so in this way it help farmers to understand and adopt new technology," S N Puri, Vice-Chancellor, Central Agricultural University.

 

Over 1000 farmers from different parts of the northeast attended the fair that was organized at the Central Agricultural University.

 

Many of them got awards for their innovative ideas and products.

 

"I have got an exposure to several new technologies, which can reduce our work. I have even seen a machine with which we can plant paddy saplings. I have realized that all these things make our work easy and are very profitable," said Mirjan Mian.

 

Several fruit stalls were also set up where the farmers showcased their produce.

 

"Organizing such exhibition is very good because we also get opportunity to share and discuss with farmers so we share our experience and knowledge at on one platform so it very interactive session with farmers and student so the response is very good," said Cydo Rehaman, a professor.

 

Northeast India has vast tracts of agricultural lands, which can be very productive.

 

Once the optimum utilization of this agricultural land is achieved, it will give a boost to the total agri produce of the country.

 

The government has been regularly organizing agri fairs and initiating agri schemes in different states of the northeast to boost productivity. (ANI)
