BJP leader Uma Bharti flays UP CM Mayawati for exploiting public

Jalan/Kannauj, Feb 11 (ANI): Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Uma Bharti has flayed Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati for exploiting the public.

" If you look at Mayawati's hand, not just in her hand, even the statues erected by Mayawati are constructed holding a purse. I do not know what she was thinking while getting the statues made, that Mayawati herself carries a purse with her, but even her statues in Lucknow have also been constructed holding purse. But you can see what the people from her caste are suffering from. Women and men belonging to her caste are working as labourers in Delhi. For whose development is she working then?" Bharti told a gathering here on Friday.

She further accused the Congress, the Samajwadi Party (SP) and Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) of working hand in glove for looting the state.

"Congress, SP, BSP are working hand in glove and looting the state. The NRHM (National Rural Health Mission) scam report says that the scam is being taking place since the time of Samajwadi Party's regime. If Mayawati's elephant is eating away the money, then Rahul Gandhi should answer why such huge amount of money was sent from Centre?, she asked

" The CBI is investigating Mayawati and Mulayam over the charges of having amassed wealth, then why has the investigation not been completed? The investigation is not yet complete so that the UPA government gets full support from SP and BSP, this is the reason why the investigation has not yet completed," Bharti said.

Meanwhile, Samajwadi Party (SP) leader Akhilesh Yadav held the Congress party responsible for the deteriorating condition of the state, saying they shelled out unnecessary funds to the state government.

"We will put full pressure for giving reservation and will make sure that reservation is given as per the population. If any amendment is made in constitution, then Samajwadi Party is ready. Some parties think that they will have remote control and they think that president rule will be implemented, but I am confident that public will support Samajwadi Party," Yadav said in Kannauj.

"Farmers have been exploited and looted. If the statues were erected, then Congress also has a hand behind it. Had the Congress wanted, these statues could not have been erected, and Uttar Pradesh could have been saved from being looted. But Congress is also responsible for the exploiting condition of Uttar Pradesh," Yadav added.

The polls in Uttar Pradesh are being viewed as an opportunity for major parties to re-establish their foothold in the country's fifth largest and most populous state.

The poll results will broadly indicate trends for the 2014 general elections. (ANI)
