Heavy snowfall affects water and electricity supply in Kullu villages
Kullu (Himachal Pradesh), Jan.26 (ANI): Incessant snowfall in the villages of Himachal Pradesh's Kullu District has adversely affected electricity supply and cut off access to villages in the region.
Lahaul Spiti, Kinnaur, Chamba, Shimla and Kullu districts have been the worst affected, as access to transportation, water and electricity supply is abysmal.
"For 15-20 days, the region witnessed heavy snowfall of around 2-3 feet and the electricity supply was cut for a week and the roads are still closed. We have to walk 10-15 kilometres to board small cars, buses are still not plying," said Tek Chand, a resident.
Locals were seen clearing sheets of snow from the roads connecting to the cities.
