New Delhi, Jan 9 (ANI): Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi on Sunday expressing his delight after attending the 9th Pravasi Bharatiya Diwas, appealed the non-resident Indians (NRIs) to visit his state to boost tourism.
"The NRIs who come here do not come to invest. They are either doctors or engineers or some who are doing their business. So, this is kind of a get together to have a feel about India. They should send their kids to India, to see India. I am saying and appealing them to come and see Bihar," said Modi.
Meanwhile, Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal, who was also present on the occasion, commenting on the issues concerning the NRIs, said the Punjab Government has enacted a law for regulating the travel agencies as travel agents play a major role.
"We have formed a law for regulating travel agency. Travel agents are playing a major role. We are coming over to another Act to prevent all that but since its an international matter we require government of India support because most of the people are from the US and Canada and all over the world who come to India and then get out," said Badal.
"So, we have to do something for that. There should be a protocol agreement between India and those countries so that those people can be brought back," he added.
The 9th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas (Indian Diaspora Day) Convention provides the largest platform to the PlOs (persons of Indian origin) and NRIs (non resident India) for exchange of views and networking on matters of common interest.
The three-day conclave witnessed the participation of around 1,500 overseas delegates and all the Chief Ministers of northeastern states. (ANI)
