NCC cadets from different backgrounds represent a 'Mini India': Vice President Ansari

New Delhi, Jan 6 (ANI): Vice President Mohammad Hamid Ansari on Thursday asking the National Cadet Corps (NCC) cadets to come forward and play a vital role in nation building, said the cadets hailing from different parts of the country, with different linguistic and religious background, represent a 'Mini India'

 

Addressing the cadets after inaugurating the NCC Republic Day Camp 2011 here, vice President Ansari said: "The cadets hailing from different parts of the country, with different linguistic and religious background, represent a 'Mini India'. The rigorous discipline the NCC cadets are put through is very useful training of both the body and the mind."

 

The Vice President later talking to the reporters said the nation would benefit if the four aspect of NCC training, that is physical fitness, discipline, teamwork and social service, are imbibed by everyone.

 

Responding to a question on whether NCC training should be made compulsory, he said that while there is no doubt this would have a favourable impact, there are limitations and practical problems which have to be overcome before it could turn a reality.

 

A contingent of smartly turned out NCC cadets drawn from all the three wings namely Army, Navy and Air Force, presented a guard of honour to the Vice President on his arrival at the NCC camp.

 

This was followed by a performance of Synchronized Rifle Art Drill and a Band Display. Vice President Ansari also visited the Flag Area where he showed a keen interest in the Models displayed by various Directorates depicting their rich cultural heritage.

 

1950 Cadets, both boys and girls drawn from 17 NCC Directorates covering all the States and Union Territories of the Country, are participating in this RD Camp. The cadets will take part in a number of activities like Cultural, National Integration Awareness and Institutional Training competitions during the nearly month long Republic Day Camp. (ANI)
