Dzongu (Sikkim), Dec.31 (ANI): The Lepcha tribal community in Sikkim's Dzongu region have come up with unique village tourism by hosting tourists at their homes.

Lepchas have made the tourists enjoy a memorable experience of local life-style.

Lukendra Rasaily, the Travel Agent Association of Sikkim (TAAS) president, said tourists visit Dzongu to seek mental peace, free from social and other stress factors.

"They would like to go away from the humdrum of this life, noise, pollution. So, home stay is a new tourism trend that attracts more and more tourism activities," said Rasaily.

Already a good number of tourists have visited Dzongu and all of them returned with cherished memories of days spent in pristine surroundings, away from noise and dust.

Suresh Babu, a tourist from Karnataka, said in Sikkim people can see nature in its original form which can be hardly seen anywhere else.

"This is most serene and calm. You don't have much of habitation here so unpolluted and nature in its original form you can see, almost pure form. In other places we just have to imagine how it was earlier in the original sense here we can see it live," said Suresh Babu.

Dzongu retained its natural charm, as it is located in the evergreen foothills of the mighty Kanchenjunga peak and overlooked the waters of the River Teesta gushing down the slopes. By Tashi Pradhan(ANI)
