Cold wave grips North India, seven dead

New Delhi, Dec 28 (ANI): The biting cold wave across North India claimed one more life, taking the toll this season to seven.

 

Delhi became warmer on Tuesday at 10 degrees Celsius. But there was no let up in temperatures in Haryana with Narnaul reeling at a low of 1.5 degrees Celsius. Ambala registered a low of three degrees Celsius, while it was 4.8 degrees Celsius in Hisar and 4.6 degrees Celsius at Bhiwani.

 

In Uttar Pradesh, the dense fog continues to disrupt rail and road traffic. The long distance trains are running 6 to 24 hours' delay resulting in cancellation of several trains.

 

According to MeT office the night temperature is ranging between 3 to 9 degrees Celsius across the state.

 

In Punjab, unabated cold continued to sweep Amritsar, which recorded a low of 2.4 degrees Celsius.

 

Jammu and Kashmir capital, Srinagar, witnessed its coldest night of the season with the mercury plunging to 6.6 degrees Celsius below freezing point.

 

Pahalgam in south Kashmir and Gulmarg in north Kashmir recorded a minimum temperature of minus 7 degrees Celsius, followed by Qazigund minus 6.5 degrees Celsius and Kupwara minus 5.4 degrees Celsius.

 

Rajasthan also got no respite from cold conditions with Sriganganagar recording minimum 2.3 degrees Celsius. (ANI)
