Police officials confirmed that about 10 kgs of explosives with 20 litres of ammonium nitrate were recovered when security persons searched the railway station hours after the series of blasts.

The railway station is close to the Ayodhya city and security has been increased in and around the region, in temple city Varanasi and famous Gorakhnath temple. The city Gorakhpur also has been observing a shut down today after the call made by traders.

The first blast took place near Baldev Plaza, the second near Gol-ghar Crossing and the third at Jalkal Building, near Park Hotel. All these sites are reportedly busy market places and are often crowded. Six persons who got injured in the blast were immediately sent to the nearby hospital and police has sealed all exit points in the city.

According to reports, the bombs were placed in tiffin boxes in a motor cycle and a bicycle. The first blast occurred near a petrol pump but the chemicals used in the bomb were of low grade and couldn??t make much harm. ??There would have been greater causalities if conventional grade chemicals had been used in the bombs,? said a top cop.

The central government is in constant touch with the newly formed state government, with the leadership of Mayawati.

Till now no oraganisation has taken its responsibility but security agency has not ruled out any possibly hand of terrorist outfit.
