London, Dec 12(ANI): Manchester United midfielder Darren Fletcher has finally hit back at Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger's claim that he is 'anti-football'.
Wenger had accused Man U of playing 'anti-football' after Arsenal's defeat at Old Trafford in September, and had said that one player was constantly fouling, but getting away with it.
Even though Wenger did not take names, the player was widely assumed to be Fletcher.
"I am not a dirty player. I go to win the ball and sometimes you give away fouls doing that. But it's not malicious or dirty and it's all part of the British game," the Daily Mail quoted Fletcher, as saying.
"The referees here use a lot of common sense and they know when players are genuinely trying to win the ball and those going in to hurt people," he added.
The 25-year-old's comment comes ahead of Sunday's Premier League match between Manchester United and Arsenal. (ANI)
