New Delhi, Dec 9 (ANI): Union Law and Justice Minister M. Veerappa Moily on Thursday said the government does not interfere into high profile cases, which are being investigated by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
"There is a process of law, there is a rule of law in the country. This will go according to that. There are courts involved, investigating agencies are involved. If the government interferes in the investigation process, it will be bad for the country," said Moily.
Further talking about the 2G scam, Moily said the probe would go according to procedures laid down by law.
The Law Minister further said the CBI enjoys credibility in the eyes of the public.
"CBI is an independent organisation, it has established its own credibility in the country. For everything, it is always a national consensus CBI should investigate. What does it mean?" said Moily.
"That they carry a lot of conviction in the people, a lot of credibility in the minds of the people. They are investigating it. If it is inconvenient to some parties, we cannot help it," he added.
The deadlock in Parliament over the 2G scam continued for the 20th straight day on today, with the opposition remaining adamant on their demand for a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) probe.
Former Telecom Minister A Raja was forced to resign last month under considerable pressure from the Congress, which continues to be attacked in Parliament by the Opposition on corruption charges.
The 2G-spectrum allocation has reportedly caused an alleged loss of Rs.1.76 lakh crores to the Government, the Comptroller and Auditor General of India (CAG) has stated in a report. (ANI)
