Dec 28:  Religious vandals are having a great time here in India and Delhi too got to see its part when members of Bhartiya Vidyarthi Sena, student wing of Shiv Sena manhandled paintings of M F Hussain at India International Centre on Thursday.

The ten days exhibition on Hussain’s painting was on display under the title “ India in the Era of Mughals.”

The two miscreants duped the security and entered the premises distributing the pamphlets and shouting on anti-Hussain slogans.

It is reported that one of the paintings were damaged but they were overpowered before they could harm the other paintings.

The duo, which vandalised the display, was identified as Deepak Suri and Pawan Munde later arrested by police.

While the IIC is denying such incident that took place in IIC premises, the police are humming a different tune.

Earlier too the exhibition was suspended on December 22 after some students claiming to be member of Bajrang Dal threatened them of dire consequences.

Shiv Sena’s spokesperson Vinod Bhardwaj in a justifying tone said Hussain has made obscene paintings of Hindu God and Goddess and hence they will not allow him to exhibit his paintings anywhere in the country.

The exiled painter has faced numerous such threats and was a controversial icon after his paintings of nude Hindu God and Goddesses came to light and was charged of hurting religious sentiments of people.

A series of cases against him and the non bailable warrants has led this painter to go in exile; presently he is living in Dubai and UK but has intended several times to come back in India.

Such activities have become common and the artist creativity from time to time is colliding with religious belief.
