Electing to bat first, the RoI team opener Rahul Dravid and Wasim Jaffer built a good platform till the 25th over with 77 runs on the board. Jaffer made a good knock of 50 before falling to Nanda.
Dravid though struggled to a bit, but too contributed 46 runs before trapped leg before the wicket by Ishant Sharma.
From here on, the team buckled and couldn’t manage a good partnership as wickets continued to fall: S Badrinath (16), VVS Laxman (17) and Mohammad Kaif (29).
Mahendra Singh Dhoni (5) and Anil Kumble (9) both fell to the bowling of Sangwan. However, some well-timed lower order fightback by Harbhajan Singh (26), RP Singh (18) and Munaf Patel (19) take the scoreboard to cross the 250 mark.
