16th ‘anti terrorism day’ observed with a verve

May 21: Indian Republic observes the 16th anniversary of ‘anti terrorism day’, today. On this occasion the Home Ministry pledged all government offices, public sector undertakings and other public institutions to come forward and arrange for the ceremony. The main motive behind the observance of this day is to aware people, especially the youth of this country, to the repercussions of acts of violence and terrorism which result in the sufferance of the common people. Home ministry has already forwarded notifications for the same.

Anti-terrorism day was observed for the first time on May 21, 1992, and the notification was issued by the Home Ministry. Since then, the ministry has been actively engaged and participate for said cause. The notification issued in 1992 said that there was need to create awareness about the dangerous effects of violence on people, society and country as a whole.

Today, the whole world is in the grip of this fatal disease – terrorism. It has spread its wings to innumerable parts of the world. Certain regions are badly affected and are struggling hard to wipe it out. India is one of the worse hit countries that have been plagued by the growth of terrorist activities. Today it poses a threat to the national security of India.

Terrorist activities have prompted the feeling of insecurity and uncertainty in the minds and hearts of the citizens. To eradicate the problem from its roots, it calls for a lot of efforts and resources.

Recent incidents of violence like bomb blasts in Mecca mosque in Hyderabad, Guwahati railway station is a wake-up call to the nation to rise and get united against such vehement acts of violence demonstrated.

On the occasion of anti-terrorism day let us take this pledge that we will preserve the faith of the long observed traditions of non-violence and tolerance and fight against all acts of violence with full strength and unity, in whatsoever form they come.

Let’s take pledge that we will promote social harmony and peace among themselves and make efforts to build a thread of understanding in one another. This is how we can prevent the spreading of this fatal disease and save our present as well as coming generations.
