Washington, September 24 (ANI): Hollywood director Steven Spielberg and wife Kate have donated 100, 000 dollars to fight California's Proposition 8, the ballot initiative that would ban gay marriage in the state.

Supporting the equal rights of every citizen, the couple raised their voices against discrimination.

"By writing discrimination into our state constitution, Proposition 8 seeks to eliminate the right of each and every citizen in our state to marry regardless of sexual orientation," People magazine quoted the couple as saying in a statement.

"Such discrimination has NO place in California's constitution, or any other," they added.

Following the same cause are other high-profile donors such as Arnold Schwarzenegger, Senator Barack Obama and Brad Pitt. (ANI)
