Mamta appeals to join new anti-Left front

Dec 24:  Mamta Banerjee led frontal attack, on the CPI (M) government in West Bengal for the political chaos in the state, while addressing the rally in Barujpur in 24-West Pargana district and invited Left party other than CPI (M) to join Progressive Secular Democratic Front (PSDF) that would be launched on December 30.

Breaking her silence over party and politics, Trinamul Congress chief Mamta Banerjee spoke in detail to the people, who were eager to know her response to the current political chaos in the state, while attending a rally at Barujpur in South 24-Parganas district. Mamta Banerjee led attack on both in the state against the misrule of CPI (M) and outside the state against the Modi’s brand of politics in Gujarat.

“I am against his communal politics,” commented Banerjee on the resounding victory of Modi in the assembly election of Gujarat.

She said that she had no personal liking for him and raised her voice against the Godhra carnage in Gujarat. Further Modi had got the people mandate, so it is expected that he would be true to his constitutional duties. But it is not fair to unleash torture on innocent minority community by getting the support of majority Hindus community.

Trinamul Congress Chief’s remark had been seen in the backdrop of wooing the minority community in the state and so distancing herself from BJP in the state as a proof had not invited the saffron party to the proposed secular and democratic front, which would be launched on December 30.

She said, “We also invite all anti-CPI (M) political parties to join Progressive Secular Democratic Front (PSDF) to end the CPI-M misrule.” Trinamool general secretary and Leader of the opposition in the West Bengal Assembly, Partha Chatterjee said that Left parties other than CPI (M) and the congress too are welcome to be a part of it. But, it will take time, he added further.

Chatterjee also told that a common minimum programme and the names of the constituents would be announced on the day of the launching of the party.

It is being expected that most of the Trinamool partners on the Krishi Jami, Jiban, Jibika Raksha (Protection of Farmland, Lives and Livelihood) Committee comprising certain Naxalite groups, will be part of the Front.

She alleged that present Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee-led government had no right to continue in the government and claimed the bloodshed in Nandigram could had been avoided if the UPA government had taken appropriate action in time.
