New Delhi, Oct 15 (ANI): Expressing concern over Nepal's failure to elect a new Prime Minister for nearly three months, India on Friday asked all the political parties in Nepal to come forward and form a larger consensus.
Commenting on the ongoing political turmoil in Nepal, External Affairs Minister said " What is not happening is formation of elected government, our effort has been to impress upon the political parties of Nepal to come together, those who are ready to eschew violence, abjure terrorism should also join the process, there is a need for a larger consensus."
"We have been conveying this to everyone, I hope pretty soon they not only elect the government but also write their constitution," he added.
Nepal is reeling in the throes of deepening political and economic crisis. The political impasse threatens to unravel a peace process that saw the himalayan country make a transition to a democracy.
The parliament in Nepal has held a record 12 elections to choose a new leader since Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal resigned on June 30.
They all have failed to produce a winner because of a lack of consensus among the three main political parties - none of which have a parliamentary majority. (ANI)
