"Once bitten twice shy" Pak security forces follow truck's suspicious movement
Lahore, Sept 23 (ANI): After Saturday's suicide attack at a five-star hotel in Islamabad triggered by a truck full of explosives, Pakistani security forces have turned "once bitten twice shy".
Last evening, heavy contingents of police were deployed at and around The Mall after the police emergency service received a call regarding 'suspicious movement' of a mini-truck at the road.
The emergency service "Rescue 15" disseminated the information through wireless about the 'suspicious movements' of the green mini-truck bearing a Karachi license plate JY-3870 on The Mall near the Pearl Continental Hotel.
"Heavy contingents of police immediately cordoned off the area but did not find anything suspicious," reported the Daily Times.
But, the call turned out to be a "prank", added the paper.
Civil Lines Division Superintendent of Police Suhail Sukhaira said that they had to increase the security of the buildings on the road. He said that about 90 percent important buildings in the city including the Punjab Assembly, the Governor's House, the State Bank, the WAPDA office, the FIA regional head office, the Lahore High Court building, the Aiwan-e-Adal and a number of leading hotels were located in his division. He claimed to have adopted all possible measures to secure the building. (ANI)
