Rajasthan Royals may pay two million pounds for Watson at IPL auction

Sydney, Oct 8(ANI): Indian Premier League (IPL) franchisee Rajasthan Royals may pay two million pounds for Australian all-rounder Shane Watson at next month's auction for the tournament.

According to the Courier Mail, Watson's rollicking form this year makes him a near certainty to be the priority signing for the Rajasthan Royals.

The first pick for every IPL franchise is guaranteed between 1.8 million and two million dollars.

Watson had played for the Rajasthan Royals in the inaugural tournament in 2008.

Signed up for 125,000 dollars, the 29-year-old played a key role for the Shane Warne-led team, which won the tournament.

He picked up 17 wickets, won four man-of-the match awards in his first twelve games and also won the man-of-the series award.

On the back of his IPL performance, Watson was subsequently selected to replace Matthew Hayden in Australia's ODI series against the West Indies. He went on to establish himself as an ODI opener.

Watson missed the second IPL season due to national duty and injury, and the Royals failed to reach the top four in the qualifying rounds. (ANI)
