Kuala Lumpur, Oct 4 (ANI): A one-day programme to resolve the woes of the Indian community, addressed more than 600 cases within four hours on Sunday at Sungai Pelek in Malaysia.
According to the Human Resources Minister Dr S. Subramaniam, most of the complaints dealt with welfare cases while other cases included those on Socso, EPF, MyKad and birth certificate issues.
Organised by the government-backed Special Implementation Task Force for Indians and the MIC, the 1Malaysia, People First programme reportedly provided them direct access to government departments and agencies, such as the National Registration, Social Welfare and Skills Development departments, Socso and Tekun Nasional.
Subramaniam, who heads the task force, said the programme acted as a one-stop centre for the Indian community to deal directly with the departments and agencies.
"It provided them with direct contact with the relevant departments where they were able to communicate and get instant replies to their many questions, although a solution may not be in sight immediately," The Star quoted Subramaniam, as saying.
Fifteen government agencies took part in the event, the third such programme following the inaugural programme at Ijok, Selangor, on August 15 and Lunas, Kedah, on September 25.
The next programme is scheduled in Penang later this month. (ANI)
