London, Sep 29 (ANI): British-born boxer Haroon Khan, who will be representing Pakistan at the upcoming Commonwealth Games in India, has said that he only opted to box for Pakistan after being snubbed by England.
Haroon has decided to represent the nation of his origin, unlike his elder brother Amir Khan who represents Britain, and is the WBA world light welterweight champion.
Bantamweight Haroon, 19, a junior ABA champion, admitted: "I've wanted to box for Britain at the Olympics ever since Amir won silver in Athens."
"I looked at what he did and dreamed of going one better. But I've never had a look in with the senior England squad, not even a letter," The Sun quoted him, as saying.
"When I went over to Pakistan, they were offering me a house and a car with a driver if I wanted to stay there," he said.
"But, whatever happens, I can't see myself fighting for Pakistan at the London Olympics. That just wouldn't feel right. If all goes well, I will turn pro after the Commonwealth Games," Khan added. (ANI)
