Ramadan brings cheer to traders in Hyderabad markets

Hyderabad, Sep.22 (ANI): It's Ramadan month and local traders in Hyderabad are making merry. The brisk sale of dresses, shoes and bangles has given them a reason to cherish the holy month of fasting.

 

Local markets are flooded with new fashionable and trendy clothes. People are flocking markets in large numbers to buy their choicest dresses.

 

"Anarkali suit is in fashion here. The suits and fish cut dresses are in big demand. The market is very good. The business starts 10 days after the start of Ramadan," said Abdul Rasheed, a shopkeeper.

 

"The business in Ramadan season flourishes by God's grace. After breaking the roza (fast) people come out for shopping of clothes, shoes, bangles. Everything is available in old city especially in Pattargadi. My shop is in Pattargadi...people come here from various place Solan district and Hyderabad, Sikanderabad and our coverage is there in Andhra Pradesh also," said Mohammed Sajjad Ali, another shopkeeper.

 

The recent blasts in the national capital have not deterred the customers from going to shopping, says Mohammed Sajjad Ali, another shopkeeper.

 

Ramadan fasting is the holiest month of the Islamic calendar, when Muslims abstain from all eatables including water from dawn to dusk, a discipline believed to better their souls.

 

Ramadan, the ninth month of the Muslim Hijri lunar calendar, commemorates the revelation of Quran the Islam's holy book has traditionally been a time of religious fervour, settling old disputes and behaving charitably towards neighbours and poor.

 

During this month Muslims eat 'Sehri' (a pre-dawn meal) and at the day- end usually eat a sumptuous meal after 'Iftar' (breaking of fast).
