China, Russia condemn attempts to falsify Second World War history

Beijing, Tue, 28 Sep 2010 ANI

Beijing, Sep 28(ANI): China and Russia have condemned attempts to falsify the history of the Second World War, warning that the move might 'enkindle hostility among states and nations'.

The condemnation was expressed in a joint statement after Russian President Dmitry Medvedev ended his three-day China visit on Tuesday.

"China and Russia resolutely condemn attempts to falsify the history of the Second World War, to glorify Nazis, militarists and their accomplices, and to tarnish the image of liberators," Xinhua news agency quoted the statement, as saying.

"The Charter of the United Nations and other related international documents have made a final conclusion on the Second World War. It brooks no falsification, which, otherwise, will enkindle hostility among states and nations," it added.

The Second World War involved over 80 countries, which claimed the lives of some 50 to 70 million people.

"The people of the two countries will remember and pay homage to all those, from the Allies or not, who fought shoulder to shoulder with us to safeguard lives and freedom," the statement said.

"The glorious history, imprinted with the friendship the people of the two countries forged in the war and their mutual help, has laid a sound foundation for today's strategic partnership of coordination between China and Russia," it added. (ANI)
