Hackers beware of eToken

April 09: Now, hackers will have to be smarter than before to hack sites and break into prohibited computers. A new piece of embedded technology with a promising software called eToken, which protects passwords and prevents its hacking, has hit the markets. Launched by an Israeli company, Aladdin Knowledge Systems Ltd, eToken provides strong authentication and password management solution to serve big corporate companies, government organisations, online libraries, stock markets, educational institutes, banks and financial institutes.

According to Shailendra Shatrabudhe, the CEO in India for Aladdin: ?The cryptography identity management system of eToken provides the user to access its secret data and documents from anywhere, but other than the user no one can access it from anywhere, not even user?s pc.?

Big institutions and global companies often have to face problems relating to password security and leakage of classified information and documents. The large numbers of users and clients makes it difficult to prevent illegal authorization. Hackers engaged in disruptive activities are a big headache for government agencies, global companies, banks and security agencies. The solution will be a boon as it enables organisations to expand their business without any fear. Online transactions, official data and documents will now be safe and theft and forgery will be reduced.

This new gadget looks like a pen drive and fixes in the USB port. It generates unique users? personal data including private keys, passwords and digital certificates and stores them automatically. It supports a wide range of operating system platforms including Windows 98/98SE/Me/2000/XP/NT4.0 SP6/Vista, Intel Mac, Macintosh X and Linux. ?Though it is available at a reasonable price, its cost is yet to announced in India,? quoted Shatrabudhe.
