Four Taliban commanders killed in US drone attack in FATA
Peshawar, Aug.28 (ANI): At least four Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) commanders have been killed in a US drone strike in Pakistan's Kurram Agency.
According to officials in Peshawar, US drones fired four missiles targeting two vehicles parked near a house in the Shahidano village of the agency on Saturday.
"Four terrorists have been killed in this drone attack. All those killed were terrorists belonging to the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP)," The Daily Times quoted an official, as saying.
There have been over 200 strikes, which have killed over 900 people, mostly civilians, in the troubled northwest tribal areas of Pakistan since 2008.
Although Pakistan publicly opposes the attacks, saying they violate its sovereignty and fuel anti-American sentiments amongst the population, it is believed that it was sharing intelligence with the US about the insurgents and their hideouts. (ANI)
