Kalam’s words infuse inspiration in youth and children

Dec 10: Look at the similarity between the second and the eleventh president of India. Both belong to South India and both thinkers and writers, spent their entire life for the welfare of people.

One is still present and another is physically dead but spiritually alive in the hearts of hundreds of million of people of India.

Well I am talking about the second president of India Dr. Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan and the eleventh President Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam. DR. Radhadrishnan had spent the greater part of his life in the cloistered academic sphere. Dr. Radhakrishnan, apart from being the President of India, was one of the most distinguished diplomat, scholar and teacher. As a thinker and writer, he had achieved global reputation. As a tribute to this great teacher, his birthday is observed as Teacher's Day.

On the other hand, Dr. Kalam is the undisputed father of the India’s missile program. He has breathed and devoted his entire life into the development of science and his invention of ballistic like Agni and Prithvi put Pakistan and China into the missile range of India. Despite being the President of India, he is still respected as the prominent scientist and known through his pet name “missile man of India”.

Kalam is a synonym for curiosity and creativity owing to these characteristics every people irrespective of castes and creeds, age and sex get attracted towards him.

A strong advocate of the children’s cause, Dr. Kalam believes that future of India rests upon the children. He inspires children to visualize dream because dream will propel them to transport into effect. “Dreams float on an impatient wind, a wind that wants to create a new order. An order of strength and thundering of fire,” once wrote Kalam in one of his poem.

“Economic prosperity alone is not sufficient and I visualize a nation with righteous citizens.” Kalam said on Sunday while addressing the “Sarvadharma and Sahitya Sammelan” in Dharmasthala. “Economic prosperity is not the only indication of the development of nation but the existence of righteous citizens.”

He said that although it is difficult task to achieve economic prosperity along with the happiness of the society. But, it is the duty of every individual to strive hard to achieve this mission.

Emphasizing on the significance of teachers Dr. Kalam said that the spiritual leaders and teachers could play a vital role in developing spiritual righteous among people and help in building a healthy society.

Our society can generate an elite citizen only if he be infused with knowledge. Knowledge is like an ocean. Besides combinations of creativity, morality and courage are all essential with knowledge for the creation of elite citizens.

Stressing on the need to be a responsible citizen, Mr. Kalam said that when there would be an order in the nation, there would be peace in the world.

Sri Sri Ravishankar of the Art of Living Foundation said that even though he is former president of India, for people especially youth and school children, he is still the president resides in the heart of them. He also urged upon the people to relinquish the use of plastics and adopt rain water harvesting system and other water conservation methods. He also urged the citizen to prosper their soft power means, knowledge and humanity in order to reproduce a peaceful world.

Today we need not only a mere politician, but a politician comprising the characteristics of true statesmanship. Today’s children would definitely be tomorrow’s politician. So the personalities like Kalam definitely inspire children to adopt good moral conduct because future of our nation is in their hands.
