Movie Preview: The Kite Runner

Dec 08:  Soaring over the sky, chasing the dreams written on the blue sky…but suddenly the dreams evaporates …..

Here is Kite Runner brought into life by Marc Forster (Director) breathing and sinking deep in our heart, a story of life before and after, a story of faith and betrayal, a story of unselfish dedication, a story of carrying the pain of being coward and a story of shrugging the same after long long years.

A tale of two friends one who belongs to a rich Pashtun family, Amir emulated by Zekeria Ebrahimi and the other a kite runner, who chase down a fallen kite, Hassan of Hazara community played by Ahmad Khan Mahmidzada.

The story is plotted, in 1978 in Kabul, capital of Afghanistan, the much-privileged life of Amir with his Baba (father), a life where Hassan, son of his servant matures up not only as a playmate but as a kite runner and a loyal friend who always stood up for Amir against the local bully.

The relationships ruined after Hassan while chasing kite is raped by other teenaged boy who sees Hazaras as barbarians.

Amir the eyewitness watched it meekly while his friend who always stood for him being assaulted.

The epicenter of the story where the life get a different turn become the reason of gnawing pain between the two friends as silence creeps between them when one still remain loyal while the other in his guilt made him the reason to oust Hassan out of his and Baba’s life.

Amir could not bear Hassan’s silence and frame a theft charge against Hassan, the father and son duo left out in disgrace.

The story reeled around the friendship remains the core issue but it too reflects other parts of life… the war torn Afghanistan with Russian invasion made Amir and his father to leave their home on a dark night.

Life enters to a bigger platform in US where he graduate from California University and become a successful writer, the lonely heart of Amir fell for Soraya, daughter of former Kabul General they get married and settled in life but there was an obstinate memory, memory of a friend which was hard to elapsed.

A blue kite which Hassan refuged to give his assaulter, the same blue kite which won him accolades by Baba by becoming the best kite flyer and Hassan too proved to be the best kite runner for his friend Amir…; but the same day and the same kite was a failure for Amir.

Amir gets a call from Rahim Khan who tells him that Hassan is dead; a deep melancholy spread and Amir decided to come back to Kabul with remnant of his memories about the streets of Kabul, which he no longer knew as it was the Kabul infested with Talibans only to help another Hazara boy…son of his friend who meant a lot to him.

Find out what more is there in the movie; a splendid blend of cast, location and strength of characters played by the actors with impressive performances.

It is a film of a friendship which failed to die in due course of time ….For you thousands time over ….from Hassan to Amir.
