"Sir Syed Ahmad Khan International Award" has been instituted by Aligarh Muslim University with cash prize of rupees five lakh. This year the award will be given in the area of Literature.
The University has invited nominations for the year 2008 from individuals, Universities, Research Centers, Government and non-Government organisations and institutions of International repute who have rendered outstanding and distinguished services in promoting the vision and mission of the great founder of Aligarh Muslim University, Sir Syed Ahmad Khan.
The award will be given on the basis of the published works of the nominated person evaluated by a jury comprising of eminent personalities.
The nomination for the award should accompany a typed resume of the nominee with a list of his/her publications and alongwith ten original contributions of the nominee (research papers/books/monographs) on the subject. One high resolution colour photograph of the nominee (10 cm x 15 cm) is also required.
All nominations must reach the office of the Vice Chancellor, Aligarh Muslim University on or before 30th September 2008. Nominations will be judged strictly on the basis of merit regardless of nationality, religion or gender. Nomination's terms and details are available on the AMU website www.amu.ac.in.
The name of the winner will be announced by October 10, 2008. The award will be presented on the Sir Syed's birth anniversary, i.e., October 17, 2008 in the commemorative function to be held at AMU Campus.
