Confused CBI to let free Tytler

Nov 30:  When it comes on the question of justice it will jitter millions who are victimised both by losing their beloved in the riots in 1984 and then living all these years waiting to be heard.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) seems to be the most confused agency today with every now and then reaching to a conclusion that is hard to swallow.

The investigating agency said that the case against Jagdish Tytler should be closed because of no evidence against him.

The agency in its argument said that they could not trace Jasbir Singh one of the prime witness who heard Tytler inciting mob against Sikh community.

The CBI in its charge sheet has mentioned that that Jasbir could not be examined as he is settled in US.

But the things which popped up after the agency’s statement should make CBI to hang its head in shame.

Hours after the CBI’s statement Jasbir appeared on CNN-IBN and said, “The CBI never came to me. It’s been 18 years. No court or commission called me for my testimony. Had they contacted me, I could have given them my testimony.”

While Tytler was yelling that the Television channel is biased for digging the 21 year old matter on the judgement day, CBI seek refuge by requesting the channel to get whereabouts of Jasbir Singh.

The Delhi Gurdwara Management Committee and November 84 Carnage Justice Committee who are fighting for the justice has condemned the closure of the case accusing CBI of not making sufficient effort to get Jasbir’s statement.

The riots aftermath of Indira Gandhi’s death by two of her Sikh bodyguard swept the whole north India in the tides of riots. Hundreds of people bore the burnt of belonging to the same fate.

Other than Jasbir who overheard Jasbir of rebuking his men for killing fewer Sikh people Nanavati Commission too had said of presence of credible evidence against Tytler for inciting the mob.

Tytler is alleged to be involved in November 1, 1984 riot when a mob set afire Gurdwara Pulbangash, killing three persons.

A case was registered on the basis of affidavit filed by Jasbir before Nanavati Commision.

Though time heals all the wounds but some wounds seems to be obstinate, its hard to erase those but people who surpassed the horrible events of their life wait with baited breath for justice.

But such hasty steps by the premier institute of investigation without putting the sincere efforts put a question mark on the mechanism such agency’s follows.
