Nepal Prime Minister and Assembly chief hold discussion to call budget session

Kathmandu, Mon, 28 Jun 2010 ANI

Kathmandu, June 28 (ANI): Constituent Assembly (CA) chairperson Subash Nemwang on Monday met Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal and urged him to implement the three-point pact signed on May 28 at the earliest to pass the fiscal years budget.

During the nearly hour long meeting held at Nepal's official residence in Baluwatar, Nemwang also urged the prime minister to put an end to the political deadlock which has caused delay in the Constitution writing process.

He is said to have warned that the Constitution won't be written in the extended time period also if the parties continue to bicker over who gets to lead the national consensus government.

On Sunday, Nemwang had called a meeting of the Maoists, the Nepali Congress and UML to strike a deal between them to end the protracted political deadlock.

The meeting, however, ended inconclusively as the Maoists remained adamant in their stance that the ruling parties should agree to implement the May 28 agreement, Nepalnews reported. (ANI)
