Angry Pentagon employees protest auction of 9/11 mementos on eBay

Tue, 01 Jan 2008 ANI

Washington, Sept.13 (ANI): Employees at the Pentagon have reportedly reacted with anger to move to auction 9/11 memorabilia for hundreds, even thousands of dollars on eBay.

One angry Pentagon employee told FOX News that the sellers were "making money off the backs of the dead," and that the unveiling of the long-awaited memorial to the September 11, 2001 attacks was supposed to be a "sacred event."

It's unclear whether the items are coming from different sellers, or from the same seller using different accounts.

FOX News said one package to be auctioned for 3,500 dollars included the official program, lapel pin, viewing pass and dedication ticket, as well as a DVD and miniature American flag.

The item had no bids as of Friday afternoon.

Another memorabilia package out of Alexandria, Virginia was asking for a starting bid of 375 dollars. Another out of Bristow, Virginia was asking 400 dollars.

Neither had any bids Friday. (ANI)
