Ahmedabad, Sept 13 (ANI): Former president A.P.J. Abdul Kalam will take classes at the Indian Institute of Management-Ahmedabad (IIM-A) from Saturday to November 27 on energy security and water conservation among other key issues.

The course, which is in tune with Kalam's vision for India-2020 -- 'Globalising a Resurgent India through Innovative Transformation' (GRIT), will be attended by a batch of seventy students, comprising second year students of the postgraduate programme for executives, the postgraduate programme in agri-business management and foreign students.

Kalam himself has designed the course syllabus along with IIM-A professor Anil K. Gupta.

Gupta said: "The students will be trained in developing skills for policy analysis and change and contribute to policy decisions in a creative manner through innovations. They will develop a policy scenario for inclusive growth for various sectors."

Gupta further said that the course has highly motivating ten themes like reducing urban-rural divide, energy security, water conservation and governance with discrimination.

"These are all basic issues relating to governance and policy-making, synergy between agriculture, industry and service sectors," Gupta added.

Students are expected to submit project proposals for which they can consult subject matter specialists through invited lectures and interactions. The outstanding final reports will be published for wider debate every year.

The institute had invited Dalai Lama, CPI (M) politburo member Sitaram Yechury, Railway Minister Lalu Prasad, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi to address the students on various issues in the past.

Lalu Prasad had charmed the one-year executive programme students with a talk on 'The turnaround of the Indian Railways'. (ANI)
