Sankalp Rally’s “SANKALP” – LJP chief, the next Prime Minister

Nov 29:  One of the king maker now wants to quit from his self-taking responsibility of making king in Bihar. Lok Jan Shakti party leader and Union Steel and Fertilizer Minister Ram Vilas Paswan now tired of playing the role of ‘kingmaker’ in Bihar.

So he himself now wants to become the king.

Addressing the “Sankalp Rally” organised by his party in Patna on Wednesday, Paswan made an ardent appeal to the people to help him to come in power.

The “Sankalp Rally” was looking as a sheer reply to the “Chetawani Rally” of RJD, organised just a month ago, the first by any major opposition party against the Nitish Kumar government.

The purpose of the rally was not only to address people for making environment in his favor for the upcoming assembly elections to be held in 2010 but also was to show power demonstration by pulling massive crowd in the rally. To highlight the failures of the Nitish Kumar government was another significant purpose.

The party leaders took a pledge at rally to make the party chief and Union minister

to the next Prime Minister.

“You have seen 15 years of Lalu-Rabri regime, and you have also been watching Nitish government’s performance for the last two years. Now give me a chance to prove my mettle,” Paswan said, presenting himself the third alternative to the present ruling alliance and RJD.

Applying the same successful social engineering formula adopted by Mayawati in Uttar Pradesh, he took pledge to take care of all sections of society-upper castes, backwards, Dalits and Muslims - indicated that he wanted to widen his support base beyond the Dalits.

While castigating both the erstwhile RJD regime and the present rule of NDA, asked the people to rise above caste, communal and political considerations to give LJP a chance to ensure Bihar’s development.

“The communal forces bit the dust in the last Lok Sabha polls as my party aligned with the RJD but the RJD leaders tried their best to defeat our party leaders, including me. I don’t cheat people but the people who cheated me are facing the consequences,” said Mr Paswan, while addressing the party rally.

While the effort that went into staging the rally fully demonstrated his determination to assert his importance in Bihar politics where he has emerged as a swing factor, Paswan was unclear about the objectives the rally would fulfill as he said the Nitish Kumar government might last its term.
