Shimla, June 26 (ANI): The historic Gaiety theatre in Shimla is the venue of a three-day theatre festival, which began yesterday.
The department of language and culture of Himachal government has organised the festival.
"Gaiety is a place of performing arts and plastic arts both, we have to make it a place for these all activities and exhibition will be a part of it, a contemporary exhibition, first day festival is a culture festival, a belle of Rani Laxmi Bai and second day will be the folk dances and third day will be the drama," said Prem Sharma, organiser of the festival Theatre artistes believe that festival has provided a very good platform to the local professional and non-professional artistes.
"In between many times we got chances, I mean all the student whether they are professionals, mature or not but they get good platform here and we all appreciate this effort," said Poonam Sharma, a theatre artiste.round 92 students are participating in the festival.
Gaiety theatre is known internationally because famous Bollywood celebrities like Raj Kapoor, Balraj Sahini, Prem Chopra, Anupam Kher has performed in this theatre. (ANI)
