TATA continues suspension of work at Singur
Kolkata, Sept 12 (ANI): With the four-member committee holding a crucial meeting here this afternoon to find a solution to the Singur stalemate, the TATA Motors is still continuing the suspension of work at their Nano car project site.
The State Government is planning to discuss with the Tatas the possibilities of sparing some land from within the project site to break the deadlock.
On Wednesday, the panel had visited the project site to identify land. But the visit proved unproductive.
Meanwhile, the company has reportedly decided to manufacture 1,000 Nanos at its Pune plant. The vendors have released their last lot of components for Nano on Thursday, which will be delivered to Pune within a day or two.
"Tata Motors, which is keenly watching the developments at Singur, is getting itself ready to rollout Nano in October. If the Singur logjam is not resolved within a fortnight, then they have to make some arrangements to roll out Nano from any of its plants. As of now, this does not look to be a part of the much-speculated Plan B," media reports quoted Tata circles as saying. (ANI)
