STORY: A High Tide alert was announced on Monday (June 14) along the beaches in India's western Mumbai.

The City Municipal Corporation has sounded the alert as it expects the waves to rise as high as 8.5 meters.

Locals residing adjacent to the sea are concerned on this account.

"As you can see the water is already coming and this is not even full monsoon. We fear that when full monsoon will be on its peak we don't know what's going to happen. We really fear for our life and property," said Tasleem Shukul, housing society secretary.

The beaches of Mumbai are a major attraction for picnic lovers and tourists.

"Without the rains when the water level is rising, then if the rain falls then water level will rise very high. The administration should keep an eye over it," Vivek Chowdhary, a local.

With the arrival of monsoon in Mumbai, which is surrounded by sea from three sides, beaches claim lives especially at the time of high tide.
