Aussies will be rusty against Ireland: White

Sydney, Tue, 15 Jun 2010 ANI

Sydney, Jun 15 (ANI): Australian batsman Cameron White has accepted that the players will be rusty against Ireland after more than a month off, and added that the team will be fully geared up to tackle England when they renew their rivalry in the first of five ODIs in Southampton.

Australia meets Ireland in a one-day international at Clontarf on Thursday and the players are still acclimatising after arriving in Dublin last Saturday.

They trained for 75 minutes on Monday, completing only fielding drills, but will have their first hit in the nets during a more demanding session on Tuesday.

"There probably will be a little bit [of rustiness], no doubt against Ireland. The important thing is by the time were down to Southampton we should be up and going and ready to go," The Sydney Morning Herald quoted White, as saying.

White said the break would pay off in the long term as it had given the squad the chance to freshen up for the six-week long tour of the British Isles.

"The three or four weeks that everyone has had since the (Twenty20) World Cup will be good and hopefully we can hit the ground running," he said.(ANI)
