Ranchi, Sept 11 (ANI): Admirers and fans of Mahendra Singh Dhoni and Yuvraj Singh today celebrated their fete after they were conferred International Cricket Council (ICC) awards.
Fans of Dhoni gathered in the heart of Ranchi, the hometown of the skipper of India's One-Day Internationals (ODI), to celebrate his ICC ODI Player of the Year award.
They passionately danced to the beats of the drums to express their joy. They also offered cake to the poster of the cricketing icon.
"We are celebrating Mahendra Singh Dhoni's achievement of bagging the coveted best player of one day international cricket. We are proud of him. All the people are celebrating this occasion," said Ajai Rai, an official of Jharkhand State Olympic Association.
The scene was similar at the set of a Punjabi film in Chandigrah, where the crew of the movie was seen celebrating the success of Yuvraj Singh, who hit six sixes in a single over during a match in the Inaugural T-20 world championship.
The crew, which included his father Yograj Singh, danced on the typical 'Bhangra' (Punjabi folk dance) drumbeats.
"When something of this sort happens I just thank god. For a father nothing can be bigger than his son's achievements. I have no words to express my happiness on his achievement," said Yograj Singh.
The International Cricket Council honoured skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni with the ODI Player of the Year while Yuvraj Singh was conferred with the Twenty20 International Performance of the Year Award at a glittering ceremony in Dubai on Wednesday night. (ANI)
