Melbourne police identfy dead Indian victim

Melbourne, Sun, 13 Jun 2010 ANI

Melbourne, June 13 (ANI): Melbourne Police is baffled about how the Indian owner of a Melbourne real estate chain ended up dead under a Balwyn North freeway footbridge.

The Sunday Herald Sun can reveal the body found at the base of the footbridge last Sunday was that of Doncaster resident Kewal Dhillon, 61, originally an Indian national.

The married father of two had several stab wounds, which detectives believe may have been inflicted elsewhere before being found under the footbridge.

The homicide squad is investigating, but police cannot rule out suicide.

Detectives have released a computer image of a man they want to interview seen in the area by a dog-walker about 7.45 that morning.

Authorities believe Dhillon had a happy marriage and home life with his wife and two adult sons.

Both sons are students and are involved in the family real estate business.

The dead man was the director of Dhillon Real Estate, which has shop fronts in Doncaster and Hampton East.

In a statement released last night, the Dhillon family said: "Our beloved father and partner died. The circumstances of his death are still not clear to us. We are in deep sorrow over our loss, and our grief feels overwhelming. With the help of our family and friends, we are trying to get through these difficult days." (ANI)
