Ex-PM Aziz not to join Musharraf's party, says 'politics not for everyone'

Torronto, Thu, 10 Jun 2010 ANI

Toronto, Jun.10 (ANI): Admitting that he has been constant touch with former President General Pervez Musharraf, former Pakistan Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz has ruled out the possibility of joining the general's newly floated party- the All Pakistan Muslim League (APML), saying politics was not for everyone.

Aziz, who is currently on a tour to Canada, clarified that he would not be joining the APML as politics was not his cup of tea.

"Politics is not for everyone. You do not need a political office to serve the nation," The News quoted Aziz, as saying.

"Whenever Pervez Musharraf visits London, and if I am there I make a point to meet him," Aziz said in response to a question.

Aziz served as Pakistan's Prime Minister from 2004 to 2007 during Musharraf's autocratic rule.

Under Musharraf's patronage Aziz became the first Pakistan Prime Minister to complete a full term in office. (ANI)
