Malaria grips Rajasthan's Pokhran region

Pokhran (Rajasthan), Sept 11 (ANI): Rajasthan's Pokhran region is in the grip of malaria.

 

Authorities admitted to an outbreak of malaria, but assured that remedial measures one being been undertaken on a war footing.

 

"Around 10 cases of malarial fever are being reported everyday but none of them are critical. We have adequate medicines like malaria tablets for the people. And, we have also deployed additional lab technicians," said Sriniwas, the director of the National Rural Health Mission.

 

The disease began to spread about a week ago.

 

Sanitary workers and paramedics have been deployed in affected villages.

 

Malaria, a vector-borne infectious disease, is caused by mosquito bites and is a common occurrence during the monsoon season. (ANI)
