Sharif wants result-oriented dialogue between India-Pakistan on Kashmir

Lahore, Jun 1 (ANI): Pakistan Muslim League-N chief Nawaz Sharif has laid stress on having a result-oriented composite dialogue between India and Pakistan on all issues, including Kashmir and water.

 

Talking to Indian High Commissioner Sharat Sabrawal at his Raiwind residence here Monday, Sharif said that good neighbourly ties between India and Pakistan were the need of the hour and for that a resolution of all issues between them was a must.

 

He said that Pakistan desired good neighbourly relations with India based on peaceful co-existence and tolerance.

 

The Nation quoted Sharif as saying that notwithstanding the fact Pakistan itself was a worst victim of terrorism at present, it was continuing efforts for peace in the region and was playing an active role in that course, which speaks volumes about its love and aspiration for peace.

 

He said for a lasting peace in the region both the countries would have to jointly make efforts, adding that Pakistan was fully committed to purge the region of the scourge of terrorism and extremism.

 

Sharif was confident that Pakistani nation was fighting terrorism with a complete resolve and perseverance to defeat it. He also told Sabrawal that the people of Pakistan and India were tied with neighbourly bonds and wanted their respective governments to hold dialogue to resolve disputed matters between them.

 

The Indian High Commissioner, during the talk, appreciated Sharif's efforts for peace between the two countries, and expressed the hope he would continue in the same vein to achieve the objective. (ANI)
