Sir Cliff says downloads can never match CDs quality

Tue, 01 Jan 2008 ANI

London, Sept 10 (ANI): Pop star Sir Cliff Richard has said that he will never be a fan of downloaded music, insisting that the quality of an MP3 "is not the same" as that of a CD.

The 67-year-old, who is this week striving to become the first artist to top the singles chart for six consecutive decades, said he preferred listening to music on CD.

"I like putting six CDs in the machine and playing them for two or three days," BBC quoted him, as saying in an interview.

"The 12" vinyl album was the best because you could read [the sleeve] without getting a magnifying glass," he said.

Sir Cliff said, "it would be nice" if he topped the chart this weekend - giving him number ones across six decades.

His single, 'Thank You For a Lifetime', is at number three on the provisional midweek sales chart, with Katy Perry's 'I Kissed a Girl' remaining the UK's top-seller. (ANI)
