Sania-Shoaib to be brand ambassadors for India, Pakistan, clarifies Pakistan minister

New Delhi, April 21 (ANI): Visiting Pakistan's Population Welfare Minister Firdous Ashiq Awan here on Wednesday said that Indian tennis star Sania Mirza and her husband Shoaib Malik, would be the brand ambassador of goodwill, population and family planning and health issue not just of Pakistan but of India as well.

 

On Monday, Awan had announced that Sania and Pakistani cricketer Shoaib would be the brand ambassadors of Pakistan's Population Welfare Ministry when the newly-wed couple reaches Pakistan, and would help control the country's rising population.

 

However, clarifying her stand today, the minister said that Mirza and Malik would be the brand ambassadors not just for Pakistan, but for India as well.

 

"We are branding Sania and Shoaib together for India and Pakistan. They are the ambassadors of goodwill gesture of both India and Pakistan, it's not only Pakistan. They are the brand ambassador of goodwill, for population and family planning and health issues, both for India and Pakistan," Awan told reporters on the sidelines of function of Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) here in the national capital.

 

Awan, along with Pakistani cricketer Sohail Tanveer had attended the wedding reception of Mirza and Malik in Hyderabad city recently.

 

The minister also said that dialogue between the two neighbours should resume as soon as possible.

 

"This (dialogue) should resume as soon as possible. These are our desires. Let's see how the Indian government, they implement those desires," added Awan. (ANI)
