Srinagar, Apr 15 (ANI): The Department of Tourism in Jammu and Kashmir is renovating Chinar Bagh, which is situated near the famous Dal Lake, to attract more tourists.

The garden is famous for its majestic Chinar trees.

The department hopes the garden will be ready by June this year.

"This place is famous for Chinars and work is in full swing because of the tourism department. We are happy to see that tourism department is working on such projects, "said Javed, a local.

The garden will have musical fountains, food and handicrafts kiosks.

"This is a tourist area and there was no place to sit here. With the help of experts we will be making this Chinar Bagh as an entertainment park, which will include musical fountains, food kiosks, and handicraft kiosks so that tourist and local will go and enjoy," said Farooq Ahmad shah, director of Kashmir tourism.

The department has so far spent twenty million rupees on improving the basic infrastructure and for removing the encroachments.

The department has plans to develop two more gardens near the Chinar Bagh. These will be connected through footbridges. (ANI)
