Pakistan claims its nuclear arsenals are fully secure

Islamabad, Fri, 09 Apr 2010 ANI

Islamabad, Apr 9 (ANI): Pakistan Foreign Office spokesman Abdul Basit has reiterated that the country's nuclear arsenals are fully secure as it would remain the center of attention at the forthcoming nuclear security summit in Washington.

"The command and control system of our nuclear weapons is as secure as of any other country," the spokesman said.

Basit said the international community acknowledges the country's safe system. He dispelled the impression that Pakistan was expected to remain the focus at the conference.

In an interview with a foreign news agency, the author of "Road to Chaghi" Shahid-ur-Rehman said the purpose of the summit will be to prevent the radioactive nuclear weapons from falling into the militants' hands.

However, he said two important issues will come under discussion at the summit, The News reports.

One will be the alleged meeting of Pakistan nuclear scientist with al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden while the second issue will be the nuclear non-proliferation. (ANI)
