Melbourne, Apr 8 (ANI): David Hussey, in the hope of proving the Australian selectors his commitment to the longest form of the game, gave up about 234,000 dollars in potential IPL earnings, but was dropped from the list of players contracted by Cricket Australia.

Hussey finished the season as the leading run-scorer in the Sheffield Shield and was one of five casualties - Stuart Clark, Nathan Bracken, Brad Hodge and wicketkeeper Graham Manou were the thers - as CA's selectors selected a 25-man squad for the contract.

While he said his omission from the CA contract list, estimated to cost him more than 100,000 dollars, did not make him regret the decision. Hussey conceded it did "put things into perspective ow."

"I'm a very determined person. I like to prove a lot of people wrong. This is another kick in the teeth, but it gives me extra motivation," The Age quoted Hussey, as saying.

He still held out hope that he could earn a central contract under the CA system, where players are upgraded if they play a certain number of international matches.

"I just hope I get back in another way. I'm pretty motivated to finish off this IPL season by doing very well, especially with the auction coming up in September. Next year? I don't know. I've till got a burning desire to play Test cricket for Australia," Hussey said. (ANI)
