Padigaon (Chhattisgarh), Apr 2 (ANI): Villagers residing in Padigaon village in Raigarh district have hailed State Government's decision of banning alcohol in five villages of their district.
The Chhattisgarh Government has decided to ban the sale of alcohol in Gahira, Mahapali, Kanesara, Padigaon and Navapara villages.
The administration says that the step was taken for the better development of the region.
Villagers are delighted with the decision.
"The ban is very welcome. This is a respectful and old village. Alcohol is a lot of trouble for the girls and women of our village. It is being sold at every nook and corner of our village and it is spoiling our children. We welcome the ban with open arms," said Krishna Vallabh Panda, a villager.
Women folk are especially pleased as they have often complained of fights and chaos in their homes due to side effects of alcohol.
"I am very happy with the decision. People would create a lot of ruckus after drinking they used to fight too. It was a big problem for all of us. All this will stop after the ban," Devki Saav, female village head. (ANI)
