President, VP, PM greet nation on Rama Navami

New Delhi, Mar 23 (ANI): President Pratibha Patil, Vice President Hamid Ansari and Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh today greeted the nation on the auspicious occasion of Rama Navami.

In her message, President Patil said: "May this day inspire us to spread Lord Rama's message of righteous conduct and selfless service and strengthen our resolve to strive for justice and human dignity to build a glorious India."

In his message, Ansari said: "Lord Rama, through his role as Maryada Purushottama has inspired generations of mankind to uphold the high standards of ethical conduct in life. His life and teachings have the power to provide guidance and spiritual solace in all phases of our lives."

"On this auspicious day, let us rededicate ourselves to the enlightened teachings of Lord Rama for establishing a peaceful and harmonious society," he added.

Dr. Manmohan Singh, in his message, said that the life of Lord Rama inspires us to follow the path of righteousness even in the face of extreme hardships.

"May the festival usher in happiness, prosperity and well being of all," he added.

Rama Navami marks the birth of Lord Rama, who according to legend, rid the world of the demon Ravan - the symbol of evil. (ANI)
