IGL -PWD sign gas supply agreement for Tyagaraj Stadium

New Delhi, Mar 17 (ANI): The Indraprastha Gas Limited (IGL) on Wednesday signed an agreement with Delhi Government's Public Works Department to supply gas for Thyagaraj Stadium gas turbines during the Commonwealth Games.

 

Thyagaraj Stadium is an eco-friendly green building being built for the Commonwealth Games 2010.

 

Delhi PWD Minister Raj Kumar Chauhan and IGL Chairman S.Radhakrishnan signed the agreement.

 

Commending the efforts of the IGL, Union Minister of State for Petroleum and Natural Gas Jatin Prasad asked IGL to accelerate providing piped natural gas (PNG) connections to the households in the national capital.

 

He offered all assistance of the ministry for the purpose.

 

In his address, Prasad also stressed the need of expanding natural gas pipelines in India.

 

"There is a pipeline network of 3.29 kilometers /1000 square kilometers, this is required to be increased to the level of 40-50 kilometres /1000 square kilometers," Prasad said.

 

IGL would be supplying 30,000 scm per day of natural gas for 3.5 MW gas turbine installed at the stadium.

 

IGL has already laid pipeline to connect the stadium. (ANI)
